I thought for sure that it was a permanent stain.
Cleaning oil pastels out of carpet.
I even tried it on an old black acrylic paint stain on my carpet and it just melted the paint.
I like this technique because it s effective fast and doesn t cause a lot of wear and tear on the carpet.
Use carpet cleaner per the manufacturer s direction.
That s what i used to clean my brushes with and a few drops of water with it to get it activated.
The carpet was fine.
If the oil is not dried on the carpet yet try using murphy s oil soap to remove the paint.
I tried the same method on a pastel stain made by an intense dark red pastel.
This cleaner was recommended and i thought if it worked for dried oil paint it should work for pastel.
You ll have to do use a lot of clean rags so you don t spread the paint around while working it free.
However they are easily swiped onto clothes or worse still left in a pocket when the item is laundered.
When cleaning up a pastel mess always vacuum with the hose to get up most of the dust.
Press hard enough for the solvent to penetrate deep into the carpet fibers.
But if the stain is large do not attempt or you ll end.
Amodex ink stain remover should be used per the manufacturer s directions.
Using a cloth or paper towels press the solvent into the stained carpeting moving from the outer edges to the middle of the stain.
Then carefully separate out the stained fibres from the clean fibres and cut the oil pastel out.
All is not lost however.
The newly clean carpet resolve to the rescue.
So i have experience cleaning pastel out of the rug.
Oil pastels can be a hard one to get off i use them in my art work sometimes and dd got to them once but she only got them on the wall.
This works because oil pastels are a solid combination of pigment oil and wax.
Let me share what works for me in case you ever have to deal with a mess like this.
Apply the dry cleaning solvent to the oil stain area.
To remove oil from a carpet you may have spray plenty of hot water mixed with dish detergent into the affected area but make sure you wipe it up gently inst.
It may seem the only thing to do is throw away the clothing.
Go to the shop and get some magic erasers from the cleaning section that will get them off the walls dont rub too hard or yourll remove paint for the carpet id just use a bit of spray n wipe in a little warm water and try to blot it out with a cloth.
