Elfa was orders of magnitude more expensive. After examining several models in stores we liked closetmaid systems more overall than rubbermaid systems they looked better constructed and seemed to have more options. Rubbermaid required no cutting and used a more durable powder coating. This closetmaid bracket is a little less sturdy than the rubbermaid fasttrack shoe bracket and much less sturdy than the rubbermaid homefree shoe bracket the closetmaid bracket wobbles bounces back and forth if you grab the shelf but it also has a much lower profile and doesn t stick out over the edge of the shelf so it looks better and doesn t get in the way of your shoes.

Rubbermaid is the least sturdy of the three but does the job. Rubbermaid brackets will fit into a closetmaid standard and vice versa. I like the closetmaid wall brackets better than the rubbermaid they are easier to install. My closet is 9 5 ft x 6 5 ft.

I really liked the titanium color and settled on the rubbermaid system. Closetmaid shelf supports and shelves will fit on the rubbermaid or elfa vertical hangers and vice versa. The closetmaid and rubbermaid systems are actually so similar they can be used together.
